Powderham Castle
The Earls of Devon's historic home
There’s something idyllic about Powderham Castle, which is set in a deer park on the banks of the River Exe. Home to the Earls of Devon, it was built from the late 14th century and is still a family home.
Highlights include the elaborate 18th century Belvedere Tower, the fragrant Rose Garden and the Deer Park, which is home to 600 fallow deer.
Tours talk you through the gardens and architecture. You can even book to take one of the castle’s goats for a stroll.
