A la Ronde
A unique, artefact-packed, 16-sided home
Tiny a la Ronde is a bit like a human-sized doll’s house. It was built to a 16-sided design in the 1790s for Jane and Mary Parminter. These intrepid cousins wanted somewhere to showcase a wealth of collectibles amassed during a European grand tour.
The result is a unique interior. Walls are adorned with shells, feathers, seaweed, portraits, tiles and intricately cut out silhouettes.
Outside sits a hay meadow, an orchard and a picnic spot with Exe Estuary views.
