Plymouth Ferry Rides & Boat Trips
Fleets of ferries set off from the Barbican to shuttle across Plymouth Sound – the city’s vast natural harbour. A number of enjoyable boat trips also set out from the same pontoon – the Plymouth Landing Stage.
Boat Trips
The one hour Harbour Cruise lets you see the city from the sea. Regular trips leave the Barbican, sail beside the Hoe headland, past the Royal William Yard to the Devonport Navy Base. The commentary explains the sights, and details any Navy ships in port.
Mount Batten Ferry
The little yellow Mount Batten Ferry makes the 15 minute trip to the headland on the other side of the central harbour. It’s home to the Mount Batten Watersports centre. The quaint village of Turnchapel and the Clovelly Bay Inn are a ten minute walk away. Or hike from the landing stage along the coast path to Bovisand Beach, 3 miles away.
