Plymouth's Waterfront Walkway

Hike around a vast harbour (9 miles)

Fish On A Stick

This hike around Plymouth’s impressive natural harbour sees you exploring little-visited parts of the city as well as key sights.

It starts at Admiral’s Hard in Stonehouse and ends at Jennycliff, taking in Millbay Docks, views from Plymouth Hoe, the heritage Barbican district, industrial Cattedown and pretty Turnchapel.

Quirky installations pop up en route, from Sherlock Holmes quotes and codes in the pavement, to the giant Leviathan monster and Antony Gormley’s Look II. I Saw Three Ships

The excellent, free, child-friendly Waterfront Walkway Booklet pdf guides you through, bringing the trail and its stories to life.

Part of the route makes for an enjoyable 3 mile (30 minute) cycle ride between the Barbican and the historic Royal William Yard. Hire bikes at the Rockets & Rascals cafe.
