Cromer
Busy Victorian seaside resort
A traditional Victorian seaside resort, Cromer has an extensive Blue Flag sand and shingle beach that is great for swimming, sun bathing and surfing. It gets very busy in high summer, with packed streets and slow moving cars all too common. The beach area is surrounded by tall cliffs, a grassy promenade and hotels set back well back from the road. Only a few amusement arcades - and these are scattered around the town.
Activities
There is a lifeguard service throughout the summer. Rockpooling is possible at low tide. A good surfing location, and also popular with paragliders. The extensive, mainly sandy beaches, are a big draw for families wanting a traditional bucket & spade, play in the sea experience.
The long pier has one of the UK’s last remaining end of pier theatres. Every August Bank Holiday, it is the venue for the World Pier Crabbing championship (all crabs returned to the sea afterwards). This is a popular meeting place for families, as well as being a venue for local events, and buskers.
