Huge sandy beach; never busy
A sandy beach located near Hunstanton on the North Norfolk Coast. It is a long beach, which is never crowded even on the busiest summer days.
Basically it is sea and sand, plus grassy dunes in the background. This is the location where the famous ‘Sea Henge’ (a 4,000 year old Bronze age timber ring of upturned tree roots was found in 1998). The long distance Norfolk Coastal Path passes close by.
There are very few facilities available to visitors. There may be a truck selling drinks and snacks in the carpark, but little else.
This is a dog friendly beach with access all year, but some areas may be roped off at times to protect nesting birds.
Beware the tides
Keeping watch on tide times is very important when using this beach. The tide can go out quite a long way - and come in very quickly. Every summer people find themselves dangerously trapped on sand dunes resulting in the need to call out a lifeboat.
Parking is at Beach Road, Holme - but beware of the possibility of flying golf balls as the path to the beach passes through the golf course.
Another car park is available at the Norfolk Wildlife Trust carpark beside the entrance to the Holme Dunes Nature Reserve - with a long path leading down to the eastern end of the beach.
