Brancaster

National Trust beach

A National Trust controlled beach, it is a great place to go for a walk, relax or play on the sandy beach. Dogs are welcome, but some restrictions may apply particularly during the summer season. The tide can go out quite a distance - it is important to check tide times and make sure you do not get caught out by the incoming tide as this can be very dangerous.

Visitors wanting to walk slightly inland can follow a NT path leading to the remains of Branodunum, a former Roman Army fort and now a grassy meadow. Brancaster beach and estate is on the Norfolk Coast Path.

Facilities

A quiet golden sandy beach with very few facilities. There is a toilet and a kiosk opposite the car park where basic seaside essentials can be purchased.

Practical Info Practical Info icon

Public transport: the Coasthopper bus running between Kings Lynn, Hunstanton, Wells, Fakenham and Cromer.

Road access is via the A149. Bear in mind that limited parking at Brancaster Staithe is subject to tidal flooding, and the car parking charges at Beach Road must be paid by everyone, including NT members.
