Barton Hills national nature reserve,Bedfordshire

A North Chilterns nature reserve, popular with walkers and wildlife enthusiasts.

Open access and lots of footpaths to explore.

The area is chalk downland and beech woodland.

During the summer there are lots of wild flowers and butterflies.

Stoats, weasels and hares live in the area. Kids like paddling in Barton Springs.

Car access via the B655. Nearest train stations are Luton and Hitchin. Local buses provide access to Barton le Clay, beside the reserve.
