Cinemas and theatres can be found in all cities and towns across the East of England. They range from large chains like Vue to smaller independents such as Abbeygate in Bury St Edmunds. Independent cinemas frequently have cafes or restaurants attached, and may offer special experiences. Live theatre is popular and there are outdoor theatres available during the summer such as Thorington in Suffolk. End of the pier shows are held in theatres located on piers in coastal resorts like Cromer and Great Yarmouth. The Hippodrome Circus in Great Yarmouth is unique, in that it is a Victorian purpose built indoor circus which frequently has a variety of shows throughout the year.
Tickets are generally available at the door, but booking in advance is recommended as seats can sell out quickly especially for iconic venues like the Hippodrome Circus.
