Creysse

Village with geese & a double-apsed church

The lovely village of Creysse on the Dordogne River in the Haut Quercy is not actually one of the Plus Beaux Villages but arguably it should be!

A pleasant green area with a stream running through it awaits as you enter the village and the old bridge invites you to cross in order to explore the old village with its narrow streets and flower decked houses! At the top is the unusual double-apsed Romanesque church dating from the 12th century and a little further on are the ruins of a 15th century Château.

Don’t miss the view of the village from the square outside the church or the gaggle of geese destined eventually for foie-gras but presently roaming free in a field on the edge of the village on the road to Gluges.
