Palais Lascaris
Museum of Folk Art, traditions & musical instruments
Civilian Baroque
There are plenty of Baroque churches in Nice but very few examples of civilian Baroque architecture. Moreover, the Palais Lascaris, designed and built in 1648, resembles the traditional palazzi of nearby Genoa in Italy.
On the ground floor there you can look around a recreation of a pharmacy from Besançon found in 1738. After that, climb the monumental balustraded staircase decorated with 17th Century paintings in niches.
Throughout the museum, explore private apartments and Empire style salons on the second floor. All have 18th Century ceilings and Louis XV silver inlaid woodwork which house the museum’s impressive collection of old musical instruments .
