Bergerac

Cyrano Probably Wasn’t Here!

Languishing on the lower reaches of the Dordogne River in the Purple Périgord where the peaceful waters head towards the Gironde, Bergerac is at the centre of the Dordogne’s tobacco fields and world famous vineyards such as Montravel and Péchermant

Old Quarter

The fascinating Old Quarter surrounds the Ancien Port on the right bank of the river and half-timbered 15th and 16th century houses can be seen in the rue des Conférences and the shaded place de la Myrpe where you will also find a statue of Cyrano de Bergerac.

Cyrano Probably Wasn’t Here!

There is no evidence that Cyrano ever lived here, or even visited, but this has not prevented the enterprising locals from claiming him as their own!
