La Roche Guyon
The Île-de-France’s Plus Beau Village
Located in the Vexin Natural Regional Park, the small commune of La Roche Guyon grew up around the Medieval Chateau, home of the La Rochefoucauld family.
Only a short distance from Normandie this small village is a member of that exclusive club ‘Les Plus Beaux Villages de France’. In fact it’s the only one in the Île-de-France! It is located on the banks of the River Seine near stunning chalk cliffs and overlooked by the keep of the Château.
The Château will be re-opening in 2023 after some renovations (Link below) and makes an interesting visit. Be sure to see the kitchen garden.

Baroque Fountain in the centre of La Roche Guyon
Although technically Monet’s Garden at Giverny is actually in Normandie it is so close to the Île-de-France that I’ve linked to it here.
