Normandie

The Beach & Cliffs at Étretrat

On the Normandy coast there are several important ports including Cherbourg, Le Havre, Honfleur and Dieppe all worth checking out.

Honfleur

Honfleur

Here too are the the famous D-Day Landing Beaches and the Cherbourg Peninsula so crucial to the outcome WW2. Pleasure beaches abound too at Arromanches, Cabourg, Deauville, Étretrat, Trouville and Yport to name but a few!

At the foot of the Peninsula and just a little to the West stands the UNESCO site of Mont-St-Michel which has to be one of the most spectacular views in France when seen across the Bay.

William the Conqueror at Falaise

William the Conqueror

Some of Normandy’s other treasures are to be found a little further inland however and visits to Bayeaux to see the eponymous Tapestry and William the Conqueror’s City of Caen, Joan of Arc’s Rouen and the nearby Monet’s Garden at Giverny are highly recommended.
