Champs-Elysées
The World’s most well-known Thoroughfare?
JULY 2023 PARIS & THE TOUR DE FRANCE Be here on July 23rd 2023 for the Ultimate (21st) Stage Finish with its traditional dénuoement on the Champs Elysées as the riders arrive from Saint Quentin en Yvelines
Stretching from the Place de la Concorde to the Arc de Triomphe this so-called heavenly or elysian (Elysium being the heaven reserved for Greek heroes!) and certainly magnificent avenue has to be on everyone’s list of things to see and experience in Paris.
Bordered by landscaped gardens with horse-chestnut trees and statues to Churchill, de Gaulle and Clemenceau plus a monument to Jean Moulin the Resistance leader at one end; luxury shops such as Galeries Lafayette, Hugo Boss and Louis Vuitton plus smart pavement cafes in the middle and a tree lined approach to the national shrine of the Arc de Triomphe at the other end, it is at once a place of patriotic fervour and rallying point for the French public and a touristic must.
- Especially on July 14th - Bastille Day!
