Thessaly
Not a particularly touristy region of Greece, Thessaly is located to the north, surrounded by mountains and the Aegean Sea to the east.
There are some lovely underdeveloped beaches in the region such as Mylopotamos Beach in the Mount Pelion area, otherwise Thessaly’s main industry is agriculture.
Aside from Mount Pelion, Meteora is the most popular tourist destination.
The capital of the region of Thessaly is Larissa, an unassuming town.
From Athens it takes 3 hrs 35 mins to reach by bus or car.
