Dodecanese Islands
Dodeca means Twelve in the Greek language, hence the Dodecanese has roughly 12 islands, some well known such as Kos and Rhodes and other lesser known ones such as Symi and Astypalea.
Located on the southeastern side of the mainland, the Dodecanese are located on the southeastern side of Greece, between the Cyclades and the coast of Turkey, making them another island chain popular for island hopping.
The bigger island of Kos and Rhodes have airports with charter flights in the summer and connections from Athens.
Some of the lesser known, smaller islands also have small airports with connections from Athens, or ferry services from Piraeus port.
