Duddell’s

Art-filled Restaurant the Buzz of Hong Kong (l,d; $$$)

Cutting the Peking Duck skin tableside

It’s a restaurant! No, it’s an art gallery! Wait, I think Duddell’s is a venue for literary talks, panel discussions and other events!

Actually, it’s all that and more. Duddell’s is the talk of the town for its classic Cantonese cuisine, changing art exhibitions and events covering everything from art talks to music performances. Located above chic Shanghai Tang in Central, it’s simply decorated (the artwork speaks for itself) and offers all the Cantonese classics, including its signature crispy salted chicken, Peking duck, barbecued pork, Kagoshima Wagyu beef, plus dim sum for lunch.

This place is so popular you won’t get in without a reservation, but there’s also a casual bar one floor above, called the Salon & Garden Terrace and offering just that–a wonderful outdoor terrace that’s a great place for dim sum, the weekend brunch or after-dinner drinks.
