Shanghai Tang
This store leads the pack in Chinese chic
If you’re hungering for a fuchsia-colored Chinese jacket (and how could you not?) or a lime-colored slinky cheongsam (traditional Chinese dress that only the thin can get away with), hightail it to this hip store in Central.
Designed to imitate a Shanghai store of the 1930s (the store even employs Shanghainese tailors for custom-made clothing), it offers three floors of traditional Chinese clothing with a contemporary twist in eye-popping colors (including adorable children’s clothing), home decor and accessories. You’ll find everything from umbrellas and photo albums to funky clutch purses, at expectedly high prices. There’s a branch in Tsim Sha Tsui, but the Duddell Street location is its flagship store.
