Kowloon Park
Loose yourself in Tsim Sha Tsui's largest park
The British used this prime spot in Tsim Sha Tsui as a military base, but in 1970 it became Kowloon Park, with 33 acres/13.3 hectares offering a wide range of recreational pursuits.
Want to watch kung fu? There’s a free demonstration every Sunday from 2:30 to 4:30, along with other performances that can range from other martial arts to lion dances. How about a swim to cool off? You can do that here, too, in three outdoor pools (open Apr-Oct) and indoor Olympic-size and diving pools. You can also join free bird watching every Friday from 7:30 to 9:30am. And there’s a small art fair with vendors on Sundays and holidays from 1 to 7pm.
Other places to explore in Kowloon Park include an open-air sculpture garden, hedge maze, aviary, Chinese garden, fitness trail, two children’s playgrounds, and, in old army barracks, the Hong Kong Heritage Museum with exhibitions centering on archaeology and architecture, including both Chinese and Western historic sites and modern skyscrapers (it also offers free Wi-Fi access).
