Ladder Street

This is why there's the Central-Mid-Levels Escalator

I always feel sorry for myself when I’m chugging up the stone stairs of Ladder Street (usually on my way to the Museum of Medical Sciences) but then some old lady will whizz by, burdened, perhaps, by a basket of groceries. On the base of Ladder Street at its connection to Hollywood Road is the famous Man Mo Temple.

Although this is one of the most steep and grueling inclines, there are actually other so-called ladder streets in Central and Sheung Wan, including Aberdeen Street and Pottinger Street, making it easy to see why the Central-Mid-Levels Escalator is a lifesaver for residents in the Mid-Levels.
