Broad Ripple Village
Canal charm
Ever since the late 60s when it was the place for counter-culture shopping, Broad Ripple Village on the north side of Indianapolis, which parallels the old canal, has been on the forefront of trendy and hip eating, shopping, and hanging out.
Stop at the charming petitechoubistro.com by Patachou known for their French food and sinful chocolate drinks. Oh and don't forget their Champagne Bar.
Check out www.facebook.com/marigoldclothing/ for stylish couture. corkandcracker.com/ has an inventory of 500 wines and beers with more than 350 under $20. www.bikethemonon.com, named to the Rail-Trail Hall of Fame, runs through the heart of Broad Ripple.
Take a walk along the indygreenways.org (it's where the horses used to walk to heave along the canal boats back in the mid 1800s when canals were the best way to travel across the state) which connects Broad Ripple Village to the White River.
