The Indianapolis Museum of Art (IMA)
Newfields is an amazing wonder of art, beauty, and nature for any ages. The 152-acre cultural campus features art galleries, lush gardens, a historic home, performance spaces, a nature preserve and sculpture park. Exhibitions range from the IMA Galleries, to concerts in The Toby, to a stroll through The Garden with a glass of something cold as well as guest interaction with art and nature in exciting new ways.
Newfields is home to the Indianapolis Museum of Art, among the ten largest and ten oldest general art museums in the nation; and The Virginia B. Fairbanks Art & Nature Park: 100 Acres, one of the largest art and nature parks in the country.
Lilly House
Make sure to tour (it's free) the magnificent Lilly House, a 26-acre estate, and its historic gardens designed in the 1920s by Percival Gallagher of the famous landscape architecture firm Olmsted Brothers.
Located on the IMA campus, north of the main Museum complex, the 22-room mansion was once the home of J.K. Lilly Jr., the late Indianapolis businessman, collector and philanthropist, is a National Historic Landmark.
40 acres of contemporary and historic gardens, a working greenhouse and an orchard comprise The Garden, a magnificent multi-level stroll through a lushly landscaped and terraced wonderland.
