Transport
Arriving By Air
The vast majority of visitors to Japan arrive by air, mostly to Tōkyō’s Narita or Haneda international airports - with flights winging in from all over the world.
Kansai International Airport (KIX) is convenient for those heading to Kyōto and Osaka - while, depending on the state of the world, it’s also possible to fly directly into Nagoya, Sapporo, Fukuoka and a host of smaller cities.
Arriving By Boat
It’s also possible to get to Japan by sea - by ferry from Korea and China - and by cruise ship.
Getting Around
Japan has arguably the most efficient public transport network in the world. There are trains, subways, trams and taxis in the big cities, while getting around the country is a breeze by train, air, rental car or ferry.
