Kyōto In-A-Day

If you’ve only got a day....

It’s a shame to only have one day to explore Kyōto.... so with this itinerary, we’ll try to fit in the best spots to go, though you’re going to be busy!

Morning

One place not to miss is Fushimi Inari Shrine. You’re bound to have seen those orange shrine gates in Japanese tourism blurbs before getting to Kyōto. Make sure to go behind the main buildings up to where the gates disappear into the distance up the mountain and head up as far up as you want.

Take a taxi to Nishiki Market and enjoy “Kyōto's Kitchen” by walking the 5-block length of this fascinating market.

Lunch & Early Afternoon

Head to the Ginkaku-ji (Silver Pavilion) and either have lunch in one of the places in the busy little street leading up to the temple, or after visiting the temple, when walking south on the Philosopher’s Path. This is a lovely stroll and highly recommended.
