Maison de la Photographie
Old Marrakesh photos - دار الصورة
The Maison de la Photographie is an exhibition of old photographs of Marrakesh, taken between 1870 and 1960, but mostly from the beginning of the twentieth century. Many are printed from original glass negatives.
The items on display are rotated periodically, and spread over three floors. Some of the photos show the Jemaa el Fna in years gone by, or cover specific activities, events or neighbourhoods, and it's always interesting to see how things have changed.
You'll see immediately how there were more donkeys and mules in the streets, how people wore more traditional clothes and headwear, and how streets that are paved today weren't in the past.
