Belkabir and Duniya Patisseries

Popular pair of pastry purveyors in the souk

A Day Shopping in Marrakech 3

The Belkabir and Duniya patisseries are a pair of sweet shops right next to each other on Souk Semarine.

Belkabir and Duniya Patisseries

They're both pretty similar, offering a tasty mix of nutty Moroccan sweets by the kilo. The sweets in question are mini-pastries, stuffed with nuts and in some cases drizzled in syrup. They aren't quite as refined as at some cake shops in town, and some of them come in lurid (artificial) colours, but they're great value, and there's a huge selection.

Belkabir and Duniya Patisseries

A mixture (mélange) goes for a straight 100dh/kg, and they often chuck in a few extra, but note that some sweets such as the crescent shaped ones stuffed with almonds (cornes de gazelle) cost more, so check that they're charging you the right price when they weigh them up.
