Mohammed VI Water Museum (AMAN)
Musée Mohammed VI pour la Civilisation de l'Eau - متحف ابماء
Most visitors are impressed by the bright, new Mohammed VI Water Museum out on the Route de Casablanca opposite the end of the Palmery's Circuit de la Palmeraie.
Modern and spacious, the museum is hi-tech, with lots of interactive touch screens, video presentations and models. Its theme is the importance and management of water, especially in Morocco.
Among other things, the Water Museum covers the history of hydraulic engineering in Morocco from the Middle Ages to the present. Models illustrate technological advances such as the khettara water channels which carried water from the Atlas Mountains down to orchards such the Agdal Gardens.
Explanations are in Arabic, French and English, and the museum is child-friendly. Located out of town, the Mohammed VI Water Museum is largely undiscovered, with lots of space and no crowds.
