Restaurants
Marrakesh has a wide range of restaurants, from budget diners to haute cuisine, plus a few French, Italian, Senegalese and even East Asian eateries.
Generally, and certainly in the Medina, only upmarket restaurants tend to be licensed for alcohol, but one or two mid-range Ville Nouvelle restaurants such as La Taverne and Le Catanzaro also serve it.
Moroccan food
The big Moroccan dish is tajine, a Moroccan casserole (the name refers to both the pot and the food cooked in it), often featuring meat with fruit, typically lamb with prunes and almonds, or chicken with olives and lemons.
Couscous (steamed semolina pellets) is traditionally served on a Friday, but a lot of restaurants offer it every day.
