1147–1269: Almohad
The Almoravids were driven out in 1147 by the Almohads, a more extreme fundamentalist movement from the Atlas mountains. They destroyed most of the Almoravid city and completely rebuilt it.
Marrakesh's most famous Almohad structure is the Koutoubia Mosque. The minaret of the Kasbah Mosque is also Almohad, and one Almohad city gate, Bab Agnaou, still survives.
