Maison Tiskiwin

Museum of the trans-Saharan caravan trade - متحف تيسكوين

Maison Tiskiwin

Closed for renovation at last check, Maison Tiskiwin illustrates Morocco's connections with the Sahara and West Africa. Its rooms each cover part of the trans-Saharan caravan routes, for which Marrakesh was the main northern desert port, the main southern port being Timbuktu.

Entrée du musée dans la médina de Marrakech

There are carvings, textiles, nomads' tents, jewellery and household implements. They were collected over many years by Dutch anthropologist Bert Flint, whose house it is.

Morocco Marrakech-246

The museum isn't big, and should take around half an hour to see. Visitors are provided with pamphlets explaining the exhibits in English or other languages.
