Outdoors
Mexico City and its surrounding areas are greener than you might think. With several national parks encompassing the edge of the city, such as Desierto de los Leones and Cumbres del Ajusco, hiking and biking adventures are never far away.
For one of the best outdoor experiences in the region, head out on a day trip to Parque Nacional Izta-Popo, where you’ll see a stunning active volcano while hiking in a national park about 96km (60 miles) southeast of Mexico City. For something a bit closer, take a gondola ride out to the creepy Island of the Dolls in Xochimilco.
