Myrtle Beach Pelicans
Baseball in Myrtle Beach
Baseball in Myrtle Beach begins with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. The Pelicans are a member of the Class A Carolina League, having joined the league in 1999. They play their home games at the fan-friendly TicketReturn.com field. The field is adjacent to Broadway at the Beach which makes it convenient for fans to shop, eat and then see the game.
Most of the teams in the Carolina League are the Advanced Class A affiliate of the Major League teams, meaning that they are the best of the best of the first or second year players of their farm system.
When the Pelicans began play in the Carolina League, they were the farm team of the Atlanta Braves. This was a time when the A-Braves had a rich and talented farm team. In 2010 organizational changes within the Braves system lead to the Pelicans being affiliated with the Texas Rangers from 2011 to 2014.
After the 2014 season the Pelicans looked to affiliate with another organization. They soon came to an agreement with the Chicago Cubs. All Myrtle Beach Pelicans non-Sunday home games begin at 7:05 pm. However, during the Memorial Day weekend they begin at 5:05, and all Sunday games begin at 6:05.
