Marriage license
required
A state marriage license is required and can be obtained in any county in South Carolina regardless of where the parties live. The Horry County Probate Court which issues licenses locally is in Conway, the county seat.
Both parties must appear together to sign a written application and must show identification. No blood test or physical exam is required. Parental consent is required if either party is younger than 18. South Carolina does issue licenses for same-sex marriages.
The fee varies among the counties in the state. There is a waiting period which varies among the counties before the license may be picked up and the wedding performed. It does not expire and may be used at any time.
