Milford Track
Walk the legendary Fiordland track
The Milford Track has been legendary in NZ since 1888, when Quinton Mackinnon discovered the Mackinnon Pass and started guiding visitors over the pass to see the Sutherland Falls (580m) and to Milford Sound. In 1915, the London Spectator called it “the finest walk in the world” and hikers have been turning up ever since.
The Milford Track is one of the Great Walks and the hiking season is considered to be November to April.
The full 54km is a mission and can be completed both self-guided and guided (costs vary accordingly).
It’s also possible to do a Milford Track Day Walk - 9.30am-6pm - either take a guided walk or buy return boat tickets and explore by yourself.
