Machu Picchu Route 1C

Inti Punku route

For this route, choose Circuit 1 and then Route 1-C: Intipunku. Note that this route is only available in the high season April through December.

This route doesn’t explore the Machu Picchu ruins themselves, but does go up to Inti Punku, the Sun Gate, where hikers arrive from the Inca Trail.

If you want to see Inti Punku, a better way is by hiking the last day of the Inca Trail from km104. The trail permit for this also includes an entrance ticket to Machu Picchu’s ruins the next day.
