Lantosque
Perched Village over the Vésubie Gorge
Located about half way up the Vésubie Valley you will come across the small perched village of Lantosque jutting out into the Vésubie Gorges.
Established here since at least the 12th century as Lantuscia and originally under the control of the Lord of Tournefort. Not much more is recorded until the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries however, when it suffered several earthquakes.
Via Ferrata and a stopping place
Nowadays, Lantosque provides a pretty view and a good stopping place for those travelling up and down the valley. There are a few old streets to wander round and a 17th Century church. Nowadays, adventurous types come to the village to sample the via ferrata course which crosses the Gorges below the town.
