Nice’s Suburbs
Nice is such an fascinating place with so much to see and do that it is tempting to stay put but a few short journeys into the suburbs or by venturing a few miles out town can end up being very rewarding.
East of Nice
Many of the more interesting suburbs are rather ritzy, including the very accessible Mont Boron and the adjacent small and ancient separate town of Villefranche-sur-Mer.
The Peninsula beside Villefranche is St-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, which may just be the world's best address; a visit to its beautiful Villa Ephrussi is essential.
Just a little further East is the idyllic seaside Beaulieu-sur-Mer where you can enjoy the magnificent Villa Kerylos.
North of Nice
Meanwhile to the north of Nice, the fashionable suburb of Cimiez is full of eclectic cultural treasures, thanks in part to having been an ancient capital.
Further North lie the Mountains of the Nice Beyond which can be enjoyed on a day trip.
West of Nice
Finally, Parc Phoenix, located west of the city and beside its airport is a recreational and horticultural oasis that's well worth a trip.
