Gourmets' delight behind a modest exterior (b, l; ££)

Right next door to the Merchant Adventurers Hall entrance in Fossgate, this quirky small deli offers a wide selection of foods, including Italian fare, hard-to-find cheeses and other gourmet goodies.

Amongst the food, there are items useful as souvenirs or gifts, but of particular interest to the hungry visitor is the small café at the back.

This specialises in light meals, cakes etc, and also serves popular cream teas (with clotted cream if wished). They also have a small selection of lunch meals available from 11.30am to 3pm (2.30pm on Saturdays, no meals on Sundays).
