Brettos
The oldest distillery in Athens (€€)
Brettos is an Athenian institution. In 1909 Mr Michael Brettos started producing ouzo, brandy and liqueurs such as cherry and peppermint from an old Athenian mansion house.
As demand grew, he re-located to the liqueur shop you see today on Kydathineon Street in Plaka where you’ll find the liqueurs bottled in beautiful colourful bottles from floor to ceiling along the wooden shelves.
Brettos is a great place to stop by not just for a drink, but a different slice of Athenian history after your day of sightseeing and to take the obligatory photos.
