Eat & Drink Oistins to The Crane
Barbados’s main housing and light industry areas (outside Bridgetown) sprawl across much of the island’s south coast, and hinterland, from Oistins eastward. As a result, the wining and dining scene is more sparse, beyond the ubiquitous rum shops. Café Luna, at Oistins, is a delightful exception.
If driving, you have to navigate your way through a maze of housing plots to reach the likes of Chicken Rita’s, or Surfer’s Bay.
The greatest choice of eating establishments lie in the historic Crane Hotel (built in 1887) – and more recent resort additions. The place boasts two fine-dining restaurants, a trattoria and a couple of grills serving food and drink, though at five-star-resort prices. Cutters – a far more casual place, lies a stone’s throw away from the resort entrance, on the main road.
