East Cornwall
The east of the county is Cornwall for the connoisseur. Thousands blast straight past, heading for better-known places further west. But they’re missing out on some heritage treasures and spectacular bays.
East Cornwall has some of the county’s most impressive historic homes – Tudor Cotehele deep in the Tamar Valley and 18th century Antony near Plymouth.
Then there’s the magnificent 5-mile sweep of Whitsand Bay, the sleepy villages of Kingsand and Cawsand, the busy fishing port of Looe and impossibly pretty Polperro. All in all – plenty of reasons for a detour.
