Forêt des Singes

The forest of Barbary Macaques

One of the least expected aspects of Rocamadour is the Forest of Monkeys situated on the Gramat Plateau at L’Hospitalet.

Living in complete freedom in 25 acres (10ha) of woodland can be found a community of 130 Barbary Macaques. This is not a zoo but a conservation project with hundreds of this endangered species having already been reintroduced to their natural habitat in the Atlas Mountains of North Africa.

Your visit will take about 1.5 hours and you will need to walk a little over 1 km. The route is pushchair and wheelchair friendly. Feeding tals are given by the guides every 45 minutes.
