Gorleston
Just four miles south of Great Yarmouth, the Victorian resort of Gorleston could not be more different. A quieter, much calmer coastal resort, the long sandy beaches and promenade path are overlooked by clifftop lawns and gardens. A good area for surfing and windsurfing.
A very traditional genteel seaside venue with a few children’s attractions such as a yacht pond, a pier, pitch & putt golf course, bowling greens and tennis courts. There is an Edwardian theatre located close to the beach area which offers a range of productions throughout the year.
A short walk away from the beach leads to the main part of the town with typical high street stores and cafes.
Most of the shops are located on the high street and provide a good range of tourist & travel essentials, as well as souvenirs, food and clothing.
Only a short distance south of Great Yarmouth, visitors to Gorleston on Sea can take advantage of shopping facilities in both towns.
Nearby attractions include Lowestoft, Burgh Castle (a Roman site with extensive flint walls), Redwings Horse Sanctury, Africa Alive.
Gorleston is accessible by road via the A47 and A143. The nearest train station is in Great Yarmouth (four miles away).
No parking close to the beach or on the promenade. Parking is mainly along the cliff top streets, and then a walk down to the beach.
