Pensthorpe

Interactive nature reserve

Perfect for family-friendly outdoor exploration, the 700 acre Pensthorpe complex of gardens, wildflower, lakes, meadows and woodland is home to countless wild birds, geese, flamingos and other wading birds.

A network for footpaths offer the opportunity to explore all areas of the nature reserve and discover a stunning natural landscape. Watch birds from the shelter of bird hides,

Try pond dipping and see what insects you can find hidden in the water. Watch the spectacular colony of flamingos and see the majestic resident cranes within their enclosures.

Join the wardens for talks about red squirrel conservation or enjoy the running commentary as they feed the birds on the mill pond.

Keep eyes peeled as you walk around the site to try and spot all the sculptures hidden within the environment such as a tiny owl sitting on a tree branch or a green man face on a trunk.

WildRootz

WildRootz is a popular outdoor eco-play area involving paddling in the stream, scaling 30 foot towers, swinging along zip wires, discovering underground tunnels and flying down the slides.
