Colchester Zoo
Conservation-orientated zoo
Home to 200 species of animals, birds and reptiles within a 60 acre site on the outskirts of Colchester. The zoo seeks to safeguard threatened species, and is involved in a variety of conservation programmes.
A well laid out zoo with plenty of space for the animals to live and play within a variety of habitats such as aviaries, a chimpanzee lookout, Bears of the Rising Sun and Aardvark burrows.
White rhinos, giraffes, ostrich, zebra and kudu roam freely within an African plain.
Elsewhere are elephants, komodo dragons, a butterfly glade, cheetahs, and fennec foxes.
Takeways, snacks and meals are available at the zoo.
