NEIGHBOURHOODS

Edinburgh Neighborhoods

Edinburgh has dozens of neighbourhoods, with many being tiny and only really referred to by locals. Fortunately for visitors, the city centre divides pretty readily into six districts covering nine neighbourhoods.

In sightseeing terms the Old Town and the New Town are far-and-away the most important; but your accommodation may well be just outside these neighbourhoods.

Leith is an oddity for being outside central Edinburgh but having quite a few draws of its own – attractions in other peripheral locations have been bundled together in an Outside the Centre section.

If you’re thinking of leaving Edinburgh on day trips, or exploring more widely in Scotland, then download Scotland’s Best, a popular trip planning travel app by the same author that covers all of Scotland.
