Cramond
Pretty village, promenade, island & pub (££)
Built on the site of a Roman fort, waterfront Cramond Village is a pretty collection of old houses, but the main attractions here are the adjacent long sweeping promenade and Cramond Island.
The Promenade

The promenade is perfect for strolling, inline-skating and biking – with shell-collecting and ice-cream vans (at peak times) to keep the little-ones busy.
Cramond Island

Cramond Island is a wild and intriguing little place, thanks to its numerous WWII-era ruins, great views of the Forth Bridges, and a causeway that connects it to the mainland outside high tides.
