Tour Eiffel

Gustave Eiffel’s Masterpiece

Eiffel Tower from Pont Alexander III

Arguably the most recognisable structure in Europe, if not the whole world, the Tour Eiffel can be seen from just about everywhere in central Paris. A really good view can be obtained from the River by taking the Bateaux Mouche trip, but to see some detail you really need to be there!

Designed and built by the genius that was Gustave Eiffel who employed 300 skyjacks to erect his tower, using 2.5 million rivets, which rose 300m/984ft above the ground. Since then the addition of TV aerials has raised the height a further 20.75m/68ft.
