France In-2-Weeks
From Paris to Mont St-Michel via the French Riviera

Using either your own transport or a combination of a rental vehicle and train/bus the following itinerary around France is an ideal way to get to know and see some of the best and most interesting sites on offer.
Day 1: Paris
- Check out some of the Capital’s iconic landmarks, including the Eiffel Tower, Nôtre-Dame and the Arc de Triomphe.
- Stroll along the Champs-Élysées and take the Metro to the fascinating neighbourhood of Montmartre.
Day 2: Paris Museums
- Having previously booked on-line, spend the morning in the Louvre and the afternoon in the Musée d’Orsay.
Day 3: Versailles and Giverny
- Take a day trip to the Palace of Versailles, known for its Classical French architecture and magnificent gardens.
- Visit Giverny to see the house where Claude Monet lived till his death in 1926 and the gardens that inspired his renowned Water Lilies series.
Day 4: Dijon and Beaune
- Travel to Dijon to see the magnificent Palais des Ducs and visit the Musée des Beaux-Arts Move on to Beaune and explore the stunning late Medieval Hospice de Beaune.
Day 5: Lyon
- Travel to Lyon, known as the gastronomic capital of France.
- Explore the Old Town (Vieux Lyon) with its two Roman amphitheatres. Visit the Basilica of Nôtre-Dame de Fourvière and take the Funicular for panoramic views of the city.
Day 6: Provence
- Journey to the picturesque region of Provence.
- Visit the ancient town of Avignon and check out the Palais des Papes and stroll down to and along the renowned Pont d'Avignon!
Day 7: The Luberon
- Explore the Luberon and visit the perched villages of Gordes, Roussillon and Bonnieux. If time allows and your trip is between mid-June and mid-July explore the gorgeous lavender fields.
Day 8: French Riviera
- Head to the glamorous French Riviera and known in France as the Côte d’Azur.
- Visit the exotic resort town of Cannes and stroll along the world renowned Croisette.
- Spend time in Nice, enjoy the impressive Promenade des Anglais and explore vibrant Vieux Nice the Italianate Old Town.
Day 9 Nice - Opéra Plage
- Fabulous Opéra Plage is just below the Quai des États Unis and ideal for some time on the beach - part private, part public but near all amenities and relatively quiet.
Day 10 Carcassonne
- Travel west to Carcassonne in Occitanie to explore the Medieval city restored by Viollet-le-Duc.
- Check out the nearby Canal du Midi linking the Mediterranean with the Atlantic .
Day 11: Rocamadour
- Travel to stunning Rocadmadour, a medieval abbey and pilgrimage site situated on a cliff in the Quercy.
- Take a guided tour to learn about the fascinating history and as you climb the steps to the top remember that Eleanor of Aquitaine did this on her knees!.
Day 12 - Loire Valley Châteaux
- Travel the enchanting Loire Valley.
- Visit the magnificent châteaux, such as Château de Chambord, Château d’Azay le Rideau or Château de Chenonceau, known for their architectural splendor and beautiful gardens.
Day 13: Mont Saint-Michel
- Travel to the stunning Mont Saint-Michel, a medieval abbey situated on a rocky island.
- Take a guided tour to learn about the fascinating history and enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding bay.
Day 14 Caen and the D-Day Beaches
- Travel to Caen home town of William the Conqueror where you can see the Abbeys he built and then head to the coast for the D-Day Beaches (from west to east) Omaha, Utah, Juno Gold, and Sword.
